Planned to open in 2018, this train station near the entrance to Jerusalem has two main levels. The upper level houses offices, ticket offices, and bathrooms, and the lower level has four train platforms. Passengers will traverse the 80-meter distance between the two levels using elevators, escalators, and stairs. This project presents unique design and construction challenges, including a number of large operational spaces that will help maintain security. In addition to 11 elevators, the project includes 12 moving walkways, each 45m long and able to support up to 30 tons. The walkways will be built inside a tunnel located 90m underground.
